GPS-fix mode

The adjustments on this tab have only effect when a GPS receiver with a SiRF chip-set is used. On this tab all adjustments for the GPS-fix mode can be made.

Altitude mode
3D only
Disables 2D positions with signals received only from three satellites. This mode requires the reception of signals from at least four satellites.
The accuracy of 3D positions is higher but a GPS-fix is obtained later.
Auto hold
Enables 2D positions with signals received only from three satellites. When signals from more than three satellites are received a 3D position will be automatically returned.
A 2D position contains no altitude information.
Default setting on Pocket Loox N560
Fixed mode
Allows to specify a fixed altitude. This option is only useful when the altitude is well known (e.g. on a lake). In other cases this option can case a significant position error. A wrong altitude of 300m may lead to a position error of around 100m.
Allowed range: -1000 – 10000m.

Degraded mode
Specifies how long GPS data will be estimated by the GPS receiver when signals from only one or two satellites are received. If the signal of two satellites are received the clock will be assumed as correct.
When the signal of only one satellite is received and the Allow 1 Sat option is enabled the last measured heading is additionally assumed as unchanged.
The degraded mode is not any more supported within the latest SiRF firmware and is only offered when no energy saving mode is selected.
Allowed range: 0 - 120s
Default setting on Pocket Loox N560: 0s

Dead Reckoning
Defines the time the GPS receiver extrapolate the position due to the last measured heading and velocity when no signals are received from satellites.
Allowed range: 0 - 120s
Default setting on Pocket Loox N560: 5s
